TUC Radio

Sunday 5:30pm

AKA Time of Useful Consciousness.  TUC Radio is a regular weekly program airing the untold story – the impact of big corporations on society.  Maria Gilardin learned radio in the KPFA news department in 1980 and was one of the founders of the women’s department. She co-wrote the GATT Guide for the Earth Summit in Rio, was founding producer of the national weekly public-affairs show Making Contact, and is a member of the International Forum on Globalization. Since 1993, Maria has written and produced radio on global trade and great ideas of local resistance to globalization.  Michael Parenti is among the nation’s best informed progressive speakers. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Yale University in 1962 and has taught at colleges in the US and abroad. He lectures around the country and discusses the problems of American democracy, US foreign policy, and the invented reality of the media.

Project Censored

The Project Censored Show is a weekly public affairs program that airs Fridays from 1-2 P.M. Pacific time on KPFA, Pacifica Radio in Berkeley, CA. The program is an extension of the work Project Censored began in 1976 celebrating independent journalism while fighting media censorship, deconstructing propaganda, and supporting a truly free press. The program focuses on “The News That Didn’t Make the News.” Each week, the Project Censored team conducts in depth interviews with their guests and offer hard hitting commentary and analysis on the key political, social, and economic issues of the day with an emphasis on critical media literacy.

CounterSpin

CounterSpin is FAIR’s weekly radio show, produced and hosted by Janine Jackson. It’s heard on more than 160 noncommercial stations across the United States and Canada. CounterSpin provides a critical examination of the major stories every week, and exposes what corporate media might have missed in their own coverage. CounterSpin highlights censored stories and exposes biased and inaccurate coverage, while examining the power of corporate influence and sexism, racism and homophobia in the news.

Science radio doesn’t have to be dull. The only dry thing about this program is the humor.  This show takes on big questions by interviewing leading researchers and weaving together their stories of discovery in a clever and off-kilter narrative style.
